"I'm two, and I know it"

Mandatory opening of presents in PJ's with feral hair.

Pretty as a picture

 who loves their brother?

 mmmmm cake!!!
what happens when mummy leaves me at the gym creche for an hour (this is my sad/angry face)
"I'm a big girl now!" (well, not really, but we pretend - this is more of a novelty at the moment!!!)

So, Molly is now officially in the Terrible Two stage... she has a lovely temper - NOT!
All in all, she is still a delightful little lady. She is growing up way too fast for my liking.
Next, the big boy turns 9!! Wowzers!

Thanks for reading.

what we want is not always what we get

ok, so first things first... we got the rest of Jasper's biopsy results in. There are no significant changes from last year. This is a good thing.
His cholesterol is still high, but we haven't been given any real direction on this. His diet is good, and Jasper's doctor has confirmed that there is a link between FA and high cholesterol... there is not much more that we have been told though.

So, Jasper had a new hospital appointment a week or so ago. He had been complaining of his thumb being tight, so I asked to see the plastics team to see what could be done.
Jasper WANTED to have his thumb chopped off at the first joint...
The doctor did not agree. He said it was too drastic. I did explain that Jasper does not use that part of his thumb for anything - meanwhile, Jasper is on the iPod touch, tapping away with the bit he wants cut off!

Ok, so here is his thumb...

We call it his "wonky" thumb. It doesn't straighten any more than the images show. He has always used the crab claw grip to pick things up, and if he does use his thumb, it is his pointer finger to the knuckle.

The doctors want to operate again. They want to put a screw in the joint to fuse it, and straighten it to more of a 60 degree, from the current 45 degree.

Hopefully it can happen during the September school holidays. He will have a cast or something similar for about 6 weeks.
There are no guarantees it will work. The joint could slip back into it's current position. We wont know until it's done.

It isn't easy. Thinking about putting your child through another surgery. They all come with risks and complications.

Jasper said he isn't too happy, he wants it lopped off. He gets why they wont do it. It is a bit extreme. I am hoping the surgery works, and he gets more use out of it...

Thanks for reading. More soon... all about a certain little lady who is now 2 years old!!
